For: admins. Only admins see or change the plan. ⚠️ Self-hosted instances have no plans and no credits at all — none of this applies there.
A subscription buys three things: seats, a monthly AI credit allowance and storage for the files in your playbooks. Everything else — unlimited playbooks, the marketplace, MCP access, roles and permissions — comes with every paid plan rather than being reserved for the expensive one.
A seat is one person in the workspace, whatever their role. The plans differ mainly in how many they include, from a single person up to a team of several dozen.
Your exact limit and current usage are in Settings. Trust that rather than any article — plan contents change, and a page repeating them goes wrong sooner than it looks old.
Every file in the workspace counts towards one storage allowance: files you upload on the Files page, files that come with a skill you import, and files an AI tool uploads over MCP. Larger plans include more.
How much you use and how much you have is under Settings → Team, below the member count. Managed workspaces show “unlimited”.
When the allowance is full, nothing already stored is touched — every file stays readable and every playbook keeps working. Only new files are refused, with a message saying how much is used. To make room, delete files you no longer need, or move to a larger plan. ⚠️ A file that a playbook still uses cannot be deleted: remove it from the playbook first.
There is also a daily ceiling on downloads, generous enough that normal use never comes near it. If a workspace does reach it, the message says so, and downloads work again from 00:00 UTC.
Credits pay for AI that sqemes runs for you: sqemes Chat, drafting playbooks, adapting a marketplace listing. One credit is 1,000 tokens — roughly 750 words of input and output combined, so a short chat costs a few credits and a long document costs tens.
The allowance is monthly and does not roll over. An unused month is gone; there is no bank to build up.
On the monthly anniversary of your billing date — not on the first of the month, so most workspaces refill mid-month.
⚠️ Worth knowing if you pay yearly: credits still reset monthly. A yearly subscription buys a cheaper rate, not a year's worth of credits handed over at once.
Connect your own AI provider key under Settings → Integrations. A key is used in preference to credits, so usage stops being metered by us and becomes a line on your provider's bill instead.
This is the usual answer for teams who hit the ceiling. It also changes the data question: your prompts then travel to that provider under the contract you already have with them.
Some workspaces are set up as managed, with AI included and not metered. Those show no credit counter at all — an empty counter there means “nothing to count”, not “nothing left”.
Both are in Settings. An upgrade carries the larger allowance across straight away. A cancellation runs to the end of the period you have paid for rather than cutting off on the spot, and the workspace keeps working until then.
Current prices are on the pricing page and in Settings. They are deliberately not repeated here: a price in a help article is a price that will be wrong one day without anybody noticing.
