For: admins. Only admins see or change the plan. ⚠️ Self-hosted instances have no plans and no credits at all — none of this applies there.
A subscription buys two things: seats and a monthly AI credit allowance. Everything else — unlimited playbooks, the marketplace, MCP access, roles and permissions — comes with every paid plan rather than being reserved for the expensive one.
Seats
A seat is one person in the workspace, whatever their role. The plans differ mainly in how many they include, from a single person up to a team of several dozen.
Your exact limit and current usage are in Settings. Trust that rather than any article — plan contents change, and a page repeating them goes wrong sooner than it looks old.
What a credit actually is
Credits pay for AI that sqemes runs for you: sqemes Chat, drafting playbooks, adapting a marketplace listing. One credit is 1,000 tokens — roughly 750 words of input and output combined, so a short chat costs a few credits and a long document costs tens.
The allowance is monthly and does not roll over. An unused month is gone; there is no bank to build up.
When they reset
On the monthly anniversary of your billing date — not on the first of the month, so most workspaces refill mid-month.
⚠️ Worth knowing if you pay yearly: credits still reset monthly. A yearly subscription buys a cheaper rate, not a year's worth of credits handed over at once.
How to stop caring about credits
Connect your own AI provider key under Settings → Integrations. A key is used in preference to credits, so usage stops being metered by us and becomes a line on your provider's bill instead.
This is the usual answer for teams who hit the ceiling. It also changes the data question: your prompts then travel to that provider under the contract you already have with them.
Some workspaces are set up as managed, with AI included and not metered. Those show no credit counter at all — an empty counter there means “nothing to count”, not “nothing left”.
Changing or cancelling
Both are in Settings. An upgrade carries the larger allowance across straight away. A cancellation runs to the end of the period you have paid for rather than cutting off on the spot, and the workspace keeps working until then.
Current prices are on the pricing page and in Settings. They are deliberately not repeated here: a price in a help article is a price that will be wrong one day without anybody noticing.
